Welcome to theAugmentation Evoker Mythic+ guide for the World of Warcraft pre-patch 11.0! In this guide, you can find tips and tricks to maximize your output and ensure your character is ready to top the charts.
Your key ability, Ebon Might, empowers your friends causing them to deal devastating damage.
Prescience allows you to choose which targets receive Ebon Might. Casting Eruption extends the duration of Ebon Might allowing you to maintain a constant flow of powerful buffs on your allies.
Using your Empower abilities Fire Breath and Upheaval gives your closest Ebon Might target Shifting Sands which scales with your Mastery. This buff is a huge damage and survivability steroid since it provides a good chunk of Versatility.
Whether you're new to the spec or looking to refine your skills, you can find the information needed to dominate in Mythic+ environments. Augment your friends and destroy your foes together.

Excellent
- Augmentation Evoker is known for its powerful buffs with Ebon Might, Prescience, and Shifting Sands along with its immense arsenal of utility like Spatial Paradox, Timelessness and Bestow Weyrnstone.
- Their toolkit includes powerful defensive abilities like Obsidian Scales and Renewing Blaze and most notably Twin Guardian. This enhances their survivability and allows them and a friend to survive huge hits.
- However, like any specialization, Augmentation Evoker has its weaknesses. One very notable drawback is the lack of clarity regarding your performance. For a somewhat accurate verdict regarding your output, you need to utilize websites like WarcraftLogs.

Augmentation Evoker
Allrounder
Gameplay Altering Talents
Discover all talents that significantly alter your gameplay within the Spec and Class Talent trees. This section gives a concise overview of these talents and their applications but for a more detailed look check out the Rotation and Deep Dive sections below.
Spec Tree
- Ebon Might
- Your gameplay as an Augmentation Evoker revolves around optimizing and extending this buff.
- Prescience
- This causes the target to become the first priority for your Ebon Might and Shifting Sands.
- Anachronism causes Prescience to have a 35% chance of generating one Essence Burst.
- Breath of Eons
- Used as your major offensive cooldown in combination with Ebon Might and Prescience.
- Essence Burst
- Causes Eruption to apply Momentum Shift.
- Molten Embers
- Causes your Upheaval and Eruption to deal more damage.
Class tree
- Rescue
- Use to save your friends by moving them or utilizing Twin Guardian.
- Optionally, use it as a personal defensive in certain fights.
- Zephyr
- Used to reduce AOE damage across the entire party. Everything Zephyr can be used on is listed in the dungeon deep dive.
- Oppressing Roar
- Combine this with either Terror of the Skies or a friendly CC like Sigil of Silence.
Rotation
Patch 11.0 - The War Within
Augmentation Evoker
Tier Set
- (2pc): Every third Prescience last 100% longer.
- (4pc): Casting Prescience makes your next Eruption create secondary explosions and extends Ebon Might by an additional 0.2s for each active Prescience.
Single-target
Opener Rotation
- Your goal is to have Ebon Might, Prescience on as many optimal targets as possible and then start the uptime battle for Momentum Shift. Below, you see an example of how your opener looks like using the recommended Allrounder spec.
Priority List
This is a general priority you aim to maintain throughout the fight.
- Cast Breath of Eons
- Cast Fire Breath Empower 1 or with Tip the Scales
- Cast Upheaval Empower 1
- Cast Eruption with Essence Burst
- Cast Living Flame if Essence Burst stacks = 2 and Essence < 4
- Cast Eruption
- Cast Living Flame or Azure Strike
Multi Target
Generally, there are no changes to your rotation based on target count, the only possible change is for you to adapt to how long a pack lives and accordingly empower Fire Breath.
Deep Dive
Patch 11.0 - The War Within
Augmentation Evoker
Rescue usage
- Rescue is a great part of your toolkit as an Evoker. Using it optimally requires fight awareness, especially in raids but can often save your less mobile allies from sticky situations.
- When you don't need Rescue for its movement part, you should be looking to use it for the very potent defensive effect Twin Guardian as often as possible.
Hover usage
- Managing and timing your Hover casts correctly in combat to get more uses in while dealing with mechanics is where you see the biggest difference in your DPS. Optimizing your rotation is not that complex for Augmentation Evoker.
- Starting a cast of a spell such as Eruption at the very end of a Hover buff still lets you finish that specific cast while moving. Keep this in mind to get more benefit from each use of Hover!
- Make sure you are tracking your uptime and charges of Hover on your UI. Get really comfortable with utilizing this ability as it is the most significant unique strength of an Evoker.
Maximizing output
In the end, it's all about maximizing the amount of multipliers on each other
Shifting Sands Ebon Might Prescience Fate Mirror Breath of Eons
- Prescience Critical Strike
- Ebon Might Primary Stat
- Shifting Sands Versatility
- Since all of these are stat buffs it might not always be optimal to simply buff the #1 guy on the logs. Demon Hunters for example benefit significantly by Prescience due to how much they want to stack Crit. Prescience is also not affected by Stat Diminishing Returns since it's a %value and not flat stats.
Understanding Mechanics
Rotational min-maxing is just one aspect of mastering a specialization, but there are numerous other key mechanics that influence your performance. Use the following guides to improve them.
- Pandemic
- Spell Queue Window
- Stat Diminishing Returns

Stat Priority

Augmentation Evoker
Understand your secondary stat priority and the tertiary stats needed for optimal performance during Mythic+ Dungeons as an Augmentation Evoker. For more detailed information, visit the Stats and Attributes guide.
Higher Item level items are better in most scenarios. For an accurate representation of what item to equip you should use Simcraft! A static "Stat Priority" is just a starting point and can easily shift depending on your individual gear.
All secondary stats are affected by diminishing returns. Click here to learn more!
Tertiary
- Avoidance - Great stat to reduce the damage intake of "Area of Effect" abilities.
- Leech - Provides additional healing through damage dealing. Most of your damage comes from buffed players, thus it becomes not optimal.
- Speed - Niche tertiary that can be very useful and has been proven useful in the past. Makes playing certain mechanics a lot easier.

Trinkets
Below you can find active and passive alternatives to the recommended trinkets. Do note that some trinkets are better than others depending on the scenario.
Active Trinket alternatives
- Irideus Fragment
- When used this trinket gives decaying Intellect. This trinket is individually stronger than Nymue's Unraveling Spindle but it does not line up with Breath of Eons.
- Ashes of the Embersoul
- Also gives decaying Intellect. Due to it having Haste as its passive stat, it falls behind Irideus Fragment. This Trinket is great for M+ though.
- Iceblood Deathsnare
- Good upfront damage that scales with up to 5 targets.
Passive Trinket alternatives
- Umbrelskul's Fractured Heart
- Intellect passive damage trinket. The DoT deals a large amount of damage even if you cannot get the execute on adds.
- Tome of Unstable Power
- Intellect passive damage trinket. Procs of any spells and deals AOE damage. Great for Mythic+ but still good for ST.
Simcraft
Augmentation Evoker is now technically supported on Raidbots but they are very early alpha, and you will most likely get weird results. Simming is a vital part of being a WoW player. To find the best combination of gear available to you or identify the best possible upgrades, visit our Simcraft guide to learn how to utilize Simcraft easily and effectively.
- If you end up having issues with the simulations and have questions I might not be able to help, for such issues, you could need to ask in the Evoker Discord.
- DO NOT use Stat Weights Sims, they only affect your personal damage. As such, you won't be giving relevant results.
- Use only Top Gear and Droptimizer.
- RDPS or "Raid DPS" is the damage dealt by your entire group. This is done because Augmentation is a Support that buffs other DPS therefore they are required for it to operate. Due to this and a few factors mentioned below, sims do not output the contribution of the Augmentation Evoker individually and can only provide comparisons. Thankfully, comparisons are all you need to optimize gear or talent choices.
Embellishments
Patch 11.0 - The War Within
Augmentation Evoker
- 2x Blue Silken Lining
- A good choice if you have over 90% health most of the time and during your cooldowns.
- Can be used on most off pieces such as Belt, Writs, Rings, or Neck.
- Technically BiS for Augmentation, but for swappability with Devastation Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards is recommended.
or
- 1x Blue Silken Lining and Adaptive Dracothyst Armguards
- More consistent and effective in uncoordinated dungeons compared to double BSL
Honorable mention
- Complicated Cuffs
- Gives 100% secondary stat value to Mastery
- Tinker: Arclight Vital Correctors Allows you to have a chance to Combat Ress a friend.
Remaining Sparks
- Make sure to apply Alchemical Flavor Pocket if you have an additional crafted item equipped to keep your food buff even if you die.
- Crafted items are 525 item level and regular items are 528 on max item level, therefore, it's not beneficial to equip crafted items outside of your 2x embellishments unless you don't have access to other high item level gear on that slot.

Log Review
Patch 11.0 - The War Within
Augmentation Evoker
- With prepatch, roughly 50-55% of your damage as Augmentation is strictly from your Buffs. Due to that, it is vital to Buff the correct targets. For the easiest time, you look at Details and buff the top 4 players. The next stage is utilizing Warcraftlogs and buffing the top 4 DPS. For the last stage, you manually input your own timings into Warcraftlogs and make decisions upon that.
- This Section is a WIP and will be continuously updated.
